Shandong Women's Federation hosted a conference, on July 21-22, to promote Shandong Province's work related to encouraging women to participate in the management of social affairs. The event was held in Dongying, a city in East China's Shandong Province.
During the conference, cadres with the women's federations, at the district- and county-levels in Dongying, shared their experiences in encouraging women to participate in the management of social affairs, especially as they have conducted women-and children-related work. The cadres also shared their experiences in improving services related to helping residents mediate marital and family disputes.
Shandong Women's Federation urged workers with women's federations, at all levels in the province, to do the following: Compile files on disadvantaged women and children (including children from single-parent families, disabled and/or impoverished women and children, and migrant or left-behind women or children, whose husbands or parents have left home to work elsewhere), to ensure the federations' workers maintain accurate records of the women and children's personal information; visit disadvantaged women and children regularly, to learn about their needs and wishes; report on the hidden dangers and/or illegal acts (such as infringing women and children's rights and interests) to the federations' Party (Communist Party of China) organizations and women's federations, at a higher level in Dongying, so the organizations can immediately eliminate the dangers and/or deal with the illegal acts; help disadvantaged women and children solve difficulties in their lives; and, help women and children, whose rights and interests are infringed, protect their rights and interests.
